Bio

I am currently seeking a position in the field of clinical mental health or community counseling. I have a passion for seeing and hearing those who often feel unseen or unheard and providing a safe space to say, "I see you. Your pain is real. You're not crazy." Though I am a recent graduate of my master's program, I have gained valuable experience during my internship year at Ridgeview Institute. I worked with adolescents from 11 to 17 years old who were in crisis and required stabilization in the in-patient and intensive out-patient programs. Patients presented with suicide attempts, self-harming behavior, anger management issues and violent behavior, psychosis symptoms, mood instability, and substance abuse. I participated in group and family therapy sessions as well as skills groups using dialectical behavior informed therapy to teach skills which assist in emotion regulation. I am a very quick learner and jump right into any group, finding my niche in a way that benefits the team as a whole. I hope to one day focus on the sensitivity spectrum, the theory that different people have more sensitive nervous systems, with those on the far end of that spectrum being autistic and those on the other end presenting with bipolor disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and other symptoms as a way of coping with sensory overload. I hope to work with individuals and families to better understand highly sensitive people in order for them to flourish and understand their strengths rather than to struggle against what many might consider weaknesses.
